Jackie Martinez is a costume designer born in Miami to Cuban parents. She completed her BFA in Costume Design at Florida International University. Upon completion of her undergraduate education, she embarked on a year-long residency as a Costume Shop Supervisor at Playhouse on the Square in Memphis, Tennessee. Following that experience, she went on to pursue her MFA in Costume Design at UCLA.
She was recognized for her designs at the 2011 Prague Quadrennial for the play ELECTRICIDAD. Her credits include TOP SECRET (LA Theatre Works, China Tour), SPRING AWAKENING (UCLA Theatre), THE WORLD OF STEAM (Web Series acquired by The Jim Henson Company), and the feature film WE GO ON – which is currently available on AMC’s horror streaming service Shudder. She is a proud member of The Costume Designer’s Guild, Local 892.
She’s been the assistant costume designer on such projects as Apple’s first season of FOR ALL MANKIND, Disney+’s WANDAVISION, THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER, HBO’s BARRY (Season 3), and the upcoming Taylor Sheridan project LAWMEN: BASS REEVES.
When Jackie isn’t designing, she works as a Journeyman Costumer in IATSE’s California Local 705 sourcing fabrics and preparing costumes for major motion film and television productions such as AMERICAN SNIPER, WHEN WE RISE (ABC), GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: VOL. 2, and AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR.
Jackie possesses a great attention to detail, an extensive knowledge of costume history, and a nerdy love of sci-fi/fantasy. What she brings to the creative process is a desire to collaborate and help enrich a director’s vision. Jackie dives into every project with tenacity and enthusiasm to tell a compelling story.
