This November our graduate costume design class took a trip to London. One of our main stops was the Hollywood Costume Exhibit currently open at the Victoria & Albert Museum. Our own professor, Deborah Landis, had curated the entire exhibit. We got a behind the scenes tour of that and many exhibitions and costume houses all over London, including Angels and Sands. It was an incredible experience, having met so many talented individuals in the film and television industry. My newest best bud is Jude Hudson, most known for her design of Tom Baker’s costume in Doctor Who. As a huge fan of the show, I was eagerly excited to have met her and she even had Thanksgiving with us.

One night in particular, I’ll never forget, was the BAFTA lifetime tribute to Phyllis Dalton. She is most known for her costume design in Lawrence of Arabia, The Princess Bride, Dr. Zhivago, and Oliver! to name a few. The evening was full of touching contributors, friends, and colleagues that were there to honor her. Phyllis herself looked divine, and I was honored to have gone.
